This takes the JPEG data sitting inside a .jfif file and re-encodes it as AVIF, a modern format that describes the same picture in a fraction of the space. A JFIF to AVIF conversion solves two annoyances at once, the extension nothing recognises and a file heavier than it needs to be.
Worth keeping in mind. The picture inside has been through JPEG compression already, so this is a second pass rather than a fresh start. AVIF handles that better than most formats would, but it works from what survived rather than from the original scene.
On a detailed photograph, a long way, often to well under half. On a small flat graphic the saving shrinks to almost nothing, because there was little for AVIF to be clever about in the first place. Each row reports the finished weight next to the original, so the answer for your specific file is right there.
Web pages are the natural home, since every current browser displays them. Desktop software is another story, and a lot of it still cannot open the format at all. If the file needs to be opened by a person rather than a page, convert to JPEG instead.
